IHG Group wants to open 22 more hotels in Vietnam


    Similar to Hilton and Marriott, IHG continues to consider Vietnam a key market and wants to expand its entire hotel portfolio nationwide.

    IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG) has continued to boost growth in Vietnam by signing a hotel operation cooperation agreement with Nha Trang Bay JSC, a member of GreenSpark Group.

    voco Scenia Bay Nha Trang Hotel - By IHG is located in the heart of the coastal city of Nha Trang, expected to be operational by the end of this year.

    This project marks IHG's 4th hotel in Nha Trang, alongside InterContinental Nha Trang, InterContinental Residences Nha Trang and Six Senses Ninh Van Bay.

    At the same time, this is also the 3rd voco-branded hotel in Vietnam, continuing to strengthen the brand's growing presence in the market.

    Vietnam continues to be a key growth market for IHG with 20 hotels across 8 brands: Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas, Regent Hotels & Resorts, InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Vignette Collection, Hotel Indigo, Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts, voco hotels and Holiday Inn Hotels & Resorts.

    The aforementioned hotels are present in 10 destinations across Vietnam, including Phu Quoc, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Ho Tram, Con Dao, Vinh Phuc, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hoi An and Quang Binh.

    IHG is developing 22 new hotels, aiming to expand all hotel portfolios nationwide.

    Mr. Dinh Trong Khoa, Director of Development for Southeast Asia and Korea of ​​IHG Group, said that voco is the fastest growing luxury brand in the IHG system, thanks to its ability to attract both leisure and business travelers in Vietnam.

    Mr. Tran Duc Long, General Director of Nha Trang Bay JSC, affirmed that IHG has a lot of experience in developing secondary and tertiary destinations thanks to its fast-changing model and ability to bring different experiences.

    "With their global reputation, we believe in effective cooperation to attract more international tourists to Nha Trang," Mr. Long added.

    In 2024, Khanh Hoa recorded impressive tourism growth with 10.8 million visitors, an increase of 80% over the same period last year, including 4.8 million international visitors.

    In fact, other international hotel groups are also continuously increasing their presence in the Vietnamese market.

    Recently, the Tru by Hilton brand officially launched in the Asia-Pacific region with plans to open 14 hotels in Vietnam this year, thereby bringing the total number of Hilton projects under development in Vietnam to 28 hotels.

    Radisson Hotel Group (RHG) also said it will simultaneously open many key projects in Vietnam in the second quarter, such as Radisson Blu Ha Long Bay, Radisson Resort Mui Ne.

    In Vietnam, RHG is operating 6 hotels, along with 6 other hotels in its development portfolio. The unit aims to become the leading international hotel brand in Vietnam by 2035, focusing on mid- to high-end segments.

    Meanwhile, after opening the Pullman hotel in Hai Phong in March, Accor Group continues to seek partners to expand its brand and exploit new destinations.

    According to statistics from Avison Young, before 2000, there were only about 6 large international hotel operators present in Vietnam, but in the past 15 years, 10 more units have joined. In total, these groups own more than 60 hotel brands in Vietnam.
